CREW LEADER TRAINING

Raindrops to Refuge is recruiting for adult Crew Leaders to help with tree planting events. Recognizing that not everyone can be available for every event, we are developing a pool of Crew Leaders to call upon 2 – 4 times a year. We train you, we organize the events, you come when you can. If the pool is big enough (and that's our goal), this is easy and fun for all.

We will offer Crew Leader trainings at our current tree planting site, the Platanus Trail on Sunset Boulevard across from the Archer Glen Elementary School, for an hour and a half on two Saturday mornings. You sign up for the one morning that works for you.

Crew Leaders are responsible for small groups of volunteers and the plants they put in the ground. This includes knowing:

  • a brief background on Raindrops to Refuge
  • all about waivers
  • some background on the tree planting site
  • how to plant a tree (all are potted, no bare roots)
  • all about flags, bamboo stakes, and tools
  • how to motivate, organize, and manage your crew
  • and the 3 important rules each volunteer must obey

You also get fun in the outdoors and gratification at greening up your community with new and old friends.

We will host a crew leader training session on two Saturday mornings: October 8th and October 29th, from 9:00 am to 10:30 am. You only need to attend one session.

Please take a look at your calendar and send us an email telling us which session you will be able to attend. Kindly email us as soon as possible.

Tree planting events will happen on Thursday, October 27th from 12:30 – 2:30 and on Friday, November 4th, again from 12:30 – 2:30. Both events will take place at the Platanus Trail on Sunset Boulevard. We're planting 800 trees! Email us if you would like to be a crew leader for one or both of these events!

Thank you for the interest you have expressed in R2R, and your support of this important work in conservation and restoration of Sherwood's watershed.
